Ghana: Hon. Yves Nii Noi Commends Organisers of AfroXmas

Member of Parliament for Tema Central constituency in Ghana, Hon. Yves Nii Noi Hanson expressed admiration over the recent AfroXmas Masquerade celebration in Tema, Ghana. The Hon. was satisfied with last December’s colourful display of art and culture.

The 2021 AfroXMas Masquerade Carnival took centre stage in the Harbour City of Ghana. It represented celebrating Christmas the African way as always, and having the locals enjoy the festivities with afro culture in colourful styles.

Nii Noi outspoke gratitude to God for the success of the event, commending the organisers including a pioneer of the carnival that passed on early last year.

“We thank God for bringing us together again this year as brothers and sisters of Tema. We all know the history of how Uncle Adams brought Masquerading to Tema and we sadly lost him earlier this year,” he said

He played a key role for us to be able to be together as masqueraders and I will urge all of us to honour him as a great servant of Masquerading in Tema. We pray the Good Lord protects him and keep him till we meet again.”

AfroXmas is already the biggest masquerade celebration in Tema, and last year’s 7th edition was a bigger spectacle. The festival’s founders always kept in note that they are giving back to the society by collaborating with local partners to celebrate and promote Ghana’s rich culture.

Nii Noi boasted of support for the carnival, noting that the event will be around for a long time, expressing annual support for the masquerading celebration.

“Fancy and masquerading in Tema has come to stay and with AfroXmas, we are all one happy family with our brothers from Tema Newtown, Tema Central, Tema West and Tema East, ” he said.

He remarked that plans for this year’s event will have explosive effect with more colours and awe to witness; calling on locals’ support to put the celebration at an ambassadorial advantage for the region.

“I would like each and every one of us to join and support so we can make this as big as it can ever be. There are major plans for the coming year (2022) to invest and make it much bigger and better to attract people from Accra, other parts of Ghana and all walks of life.” he noted.
