Ambassador Jane Gasu Aheto champions women’s leadership
The Deputy Head of Mission at the embassy of Ghana in Washington D.C., Ambassador Mrs. Jane Gasu Aheto, has reminded women in leadership positions not to be complacent in their positions of authority but to use their influence to create opportunities for others.
She challenged the African diaspora to play its role in this mission through collaboration with HERealExperience, women’s organisations, businesses, educational institutions and diaspora networks which build bridges between Ghana, the United States, and the wider world.
These partnerships, she believes, could advance entrepreneurship, technology, investment, education, mentorship and cultural exchange.
She mentioned a few Ghanaian women whose remarkable contributions made national impact such as Yaa Asantewaa for bravery, Hannah Cudjoe for political mobilization towards Ghana’s indepence and Theodosia Okoh, designer of the Ghana flag.
“From market women sustaining local economies to women leading in politics, business, education, and public service, Ghanaian women have always been architects of progress.” She said.

Ambassador Aheto was addressing a distinguished gathering convened by HERealExperience Global Incorporated to honour women who have not only achieved great feats but are also using their influence to lift others less fortunate.
The theme for the event was “Honouring Impact. Celebrating Excellence. Building Legacy“. Ambassador Gasu Aheto was honoured for her role in Diplomatic Leadership and Global Impact.
Also honoured was Mrs. Florence Torson-Hart, President of the US-Ghana Chamber of Commerce, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for Diaspora Business Leadership and Economic Advancement.
