Renowned Ghanaian Gospel musician Obaapa Christy will be joining Bishop Kofi Adonteng Boateng at his Church in the United States (US); the Divine Word International Ministries (DWIM), for the church’s annual convention late December 2017.
The 3-day convention according to DWIM is from December 29-31, 2017 and begins nightly at 7 PM at 2 Montgomery Village Avenue in Gaithersburg, Maryland, US. Known as the ‘Queen of Praise and Worship’ in Ghana, Obaapa Christy also known for her deep singing voice, will be performing in the US for the first time since she went professional a decade ago.
Her contralto voice shot Obaapa Christy to the limelight with the Twi language hit album ‘Me ma mani so’ also known as Holy Ghost International. She has since her first hit in 1992 collaborated on a series of hit albums and personally released 9 albums of her own too.
Bishop Boateng disclosed that he has been trying to get the multiple award-winning Gospel act to the US to perform in his church for a while now. “I am very pleased we have finally been able to make it happen this 2017. DWIM and indeed the entire US is looking forward to her performance as we usher in 2018.”
“I personally encourage all living around the US states of Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia and beyond to make it a point to attend the 3-day nightly convention and witness great performances of miracles under the hand of Jesus Christ. It will also be a wonderful opportunity to see Obaapa Christy bless the audience with her motivational and inspirational hit songs”, said Bishop Boateng.
Obaapa Christy went on a European tour in August 2016 that took her to countries like Holland, Italy, France, and Germany among others. Her trip to the US in December 2017 will, however, be the first time she is performing in North America.
She is presently based in Germany from where she flies into the US to join Bishop Boateng to host what is expected to be one of the most anticipated shows in the African Christian community in North America.
