District Bridges’ Chellee Walker talks Africa On The Avenue 2024

Chellee Walker is District Bridges Lower Georgia Avenue Main Street‘s manager in the Washington DC Metro area of the United States. Her position as the Main Street manager gives her the opportunity to connect small businesses to resources that help them continue to thrive.

Small businesses have a special place in her heart because since moving to the Washington Metro area, she has only worked for and supported them. Chellee is excited to be a part of the Africa On The Avenue program this year because much of the Georgia Avenue community is rooted around the African community.

Africa On The Avenue festival is a celebration of the vibrant African immigrant community that will hold at Bruce Monroe Park, 3012 Georgia Avenue NW, in Northwest Washington, DC on May 18 in the United States (US).

The event is sponsored by District Bridges, a US-based community development nonprofit, working to bridge community engagement and economic development opportunities to foster equitable and resilient communities in DC and beyond. TheAfricanDream.net is a media partner.

Chellee Walker joined Oral Ofori on episode 91 of #TheAfricanDream show in March 2024 to talk more about Africa On The Avenue, and why she finds it exciting to connect the community to many different African countries and their unique cultural backgrounds.
