Omolara Adesanya — the woman who believes she can change Lagos State

Omolara Adesanya is the eldest sister of the famed late Nigerian Pastor Bimbo Odukoyaan and an indigene of Lagos State. Born on June 23, 1957, Omolara feels she has the ideas and energy to change Lagos State as its Governor.

She worked 35 years straight with the Central Bank of Nigeria, coming in immediately after doing her national serving with the organization as a young woman.

Over the years, she progressively rose through the ranks as a Finance/Accounts Officer, to becoming an Internal Auditor, and eventually a Senior Manager for Banking Supervision where she served until rising up the ranks again prior to her retirement on June 23, 2017, as a Deputy Director.

After 3 decades in the Nigerian banking sector, Omolara finally decided it was time to pursue her dream as a world-class Event Planner. In the course of her career, she undertook a plethora of local and offshore executive training programs to further sharpen her professional cutting edge to prepare herself. Some of her academic portfolios include a Master’s degree in Business Management. The wannabe-Governor is presently the Managing Director of Royal Dainties Events, an event planning and management company in Lagos.

Lara, as she is fondly called by friends and associates, is a loving and virtuous wife to the Kolawole Adesanya, a Quantity Surveyor with who she has three grown and well-groomed children. Lara is passionate women issues advocate and a large-hearted philanthropist who is also God fearing whose impeccable pedigree finds her serving as a minister of the Gospel with the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju.

The astute entrepreneur manning a string of thriving businesses breathes fresh air into the local politics following her entry into the Governorship race on the platform of Providence People’s Congress (PPC). The occurrence has been described by many as a welcome game-changer for the Lagos State and her PPC party.

At the advent of two past women Deputy Governors in the history of governance in Lagos State, it is Omolara’s opinion that the State is ripe and ready for a Lady-Governor and her candidature holds a great opportunity to secure the office. The sweeping trend in successful governance with women at the helm in other facets of the society and the world should serve as inspiring testimonies.

As a team player, she has an insatiable appetite and passion for value-driven leadership contributing to goal achievement and efficiency which she intends to have reflected on her governance. Graced with the blessing of no sordid baggage, she is a sworn enemy of money politics and the concept of ‘godfatherism’, rather she firmly believes in God the Father, hard work and letting her truthful actions speak for her.

Omolara is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Taxation, respectively of Nigeria. She is also a member of the Institute of Pension Administrators, Women in Business (WIMBIZ), Anointed Women Of God Ministry (AWOGM) and the Pastor Bimbo Odukoya Foundation of Nigeria.

As a great athlete in her prime, she represented Lagos State at various sporting field events during National Sports Festivals during which she raked in altogether some 17 medals which included golds, silvers, and bronzes.

In Omolara’s acceptance to run as her party’s Lagos State Governorship candidate at the 2019 polls, she also accepted to be a restorer of hope to the hopeless, a voice to the voiceless, a lover of the neglected and a bridge builder to the new, young and old.

Omolara Adesanya seeks to be an advocate for the weak and strong, and rich and poor alike. She has thus accepted the challenge to build upon and improve all existing economic and infrastructural development in the State to make it conducive for Lagosians and outsiders to live and do business in.
