In TheAfricanDream.net interview of Chayuta which looked at the life of the young Ghana-based singer who is boldly planting her feet in the Ghanaian music industry, Chayuta disclosed she was born with the name Layla Mokoena. The high schooler would sit for her Cambridge IGCSE exams in 2021. “Let me admit that it gets difficult sometimes combining school and my music career, but I am blessed to have people like my mother and other great mentors who encourage me on this journey.

Chayuta — young but fast-rising

Young but fast-rising Chayuta explained that: “there have been moments that I have doubted I could cope. Especially before I released my first single. It wasn’t always easy working behind the scenes without people knowing my music. But now that I have released my first single and music video which has been received so well by the public, I know all the hard work has definitely been worth it.

Chayuta who is now managed by acclaimed Ghanaian twin-photographers known as TwinsDntBeg, started studying music and training her voice at a very tender age of nine-years-old. Her sleek voice and unique style make her a versatile singer and performer. She demonstrated to TheAfricanDream.net that “indeed I can take on any music genre, from classical to contemporary.

Having been astonished by her ‘Solo‘ music video, TheAfricanDream.net asked Chayuta about where she derived her inspiration from to which she responded “I draw inspiration from the successful artists who started singing at a young age just like myself, one of such is Rihanna and Beyonce. I look up to them and hope to achieve the same goals as they have, but in the end, I want to be myself,” she said.

Also adding that she wants to be a shining example for young people in her home country of South Africa, “and show them that no matter what your circumstances are, if you work hard you can achieve your goals and dreams.

A plethora of stars lined-up to work with Chayuta already

She promised her existing and potential fans that the rest of the year will see her releasing more singles, music videos, and collaborations with some big names in both the Ghanaian and Nigerian music industries. Chayuta is presently working with celebrated Ghanaian dancehall artist Jupitar, who wrote ‘Solo‘. According to TwinsDntBeg, Chayuta is also working on a collaboration with award-winning highlife artist Bisa Kdei of Ghana.

She will soon get into the studio with music duo and producers Dope Nation of Ghana and she’s in talks with several Nigerian music producers about collaborations there. We hope to travel to Nigeria before the end of the year to start working on some of those projects with her,” said TwinsDntBeg in a separate interview with TheAfricanDream.net for this story.

When asked, Chayuta also disclosed to TheAfricanDream.net that the two Ghanaian musicians she would love to work more with are Stonebowy and Adina. She added that she has been a fan of those two for many years. ”I love the energy they bring to their songs and live performances, and would be very excited to work more with them“ — Chayuta.
