The Launch of ‘Ghana Festival-New York’ Set for April 30, 2022 in Accra

Organised annually by the National Ghana Parade Council (NGPC), the Ghana Festival-New York is a highly-anticipated event that bring together members of the Ghanaian communities in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and beyond to showcase Ghana’s diverse cultural heritage.

The fun-for-the-whole-family celebration ignites Ghanaian culture, music, drumming, dancing, art, food, and amazing paraphernalia.

The National Ghana Parade Council (NGPC) with one major objective in mind seek to unite all Ghanaians and their supporters in the United States of America to build capacity, produce ideas, and mobilise funds to assist Ghana’s development efforts.

Its founders from Ghanaian communities in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut banded together to float the organisation. Their vision birthed the annual ‘Ghana Festival-New York.’

Every year in the summer, the Ghana Festival-New York resonate a grand ceremony in Crotona Park in the Bronx, in New York City. The event attracts throngs of people from all over the world, among them, foreign direct investors, as ideated in the festival’s mission – to promote Ghanaian culture and attract investment opportunities.

This year 2022 would be the festival’s 13th annual public installation of celebrating Ghanaian culture and heritage. However, contrary to its conventional location in New York City, U.S., its new host would be in Accra city, Ghana.

The group over the years has been collaborating with relevant state and private institutions for the success of the festival, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the Ghana Embassy in Washington, DC, the Office of the Consulate General in New York, the Office of the Ghana Mission to the United Nations, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts (all respectively of Ghana), and the TheAfricanDream.net (as a media partner).

The plan for this year’s festival bash is to involve the entire Ghanaian locals and surrounding nationalities in the kickoff event on Saturday, April 30th, 2022, at Bay View Valley near Atomic Junction, Accra, Ghana – bringing the diasporan enthusiasm to the motherland.

Dignitaries would be present at the festival, among them King of the Dormaa State, Osagyefo Agyemang Badu II, as the Keynote Speaker for the outstanding event.

Another invitee, a special guest of honour for the event, Oboade Notse King Prof. Odaifio Welentsi III, Nungua Shitse/Mantse (event Chairman) & Vice President of Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs.

The event will also feature well-known performers such as Wiyaala, Ayigbe Edem, BigTwins, and Kofi Flair, among others. The festival is hereby inviting the general public to attend.
