Davido releases fourth studio album, ‘Timeless’
Nigerian Afrobeat superstar, Davido has released his fourth studio album ‘TIMELESS’ out March 31st via Columbia Records.
He announced the album for the first time across social media with a video montage mapping the past 11 years of his iconic career. His followers who were expecting his return to the social media space after a long break were electrified by the announcement.
For the Platinum selling, multi-award-winning star ‘TIMELESS’ will be his first studio release since his critically acclaimed 2020 project ‘A Better Time’.
Meanwhile, Davido has continued to deliver hit singles. In 2021, his star collaborations included his remix of Focalistic’s breakthrough Amapiano single “Ke Star” and their follow up hit “Champion Sound”, as well as Afrobeat anthem “High” with Adekunle Gold.
2022 was an even more momentous year with singles “WATAWI”, “Electricity” “Stand Strong (9+)” and Davido’s feature across the lead single from the FIFA Official World Cup Soundtrack, “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)”, which he performed at the closing ceremony.
So far, the Afrobeats icon has amassed over 2 billion streams and over 1 billion video views across his 11-year career. He’s the most followed Afrobeats artist across social media and has been a forerunner in connecting the world to Afrobeats and vice versa.
Breaking records in 2019 with hit singles “If”, “Fall”, “FIA”, the tracks marked the beginning of the adoption of Afrobeats Stateside, and opened waves of awards and nominations for him.
In 2022 Davido was handpicked by FIFA to lead their 2022 World Cup Soundtrack “Hayya Hayya (Better Together).” His career milestones have also included two sold out shows at London’s O2 Arena, headlining AfroNation around the globe and closing the 2022 World Cup with a performance seen by over 250 million viewers.
Earning 30 awards and nominations internationally including the MOBO for ‘Best African Act’, the MTV EMA for ‘Best African Act’ and ‘Best International Act’, two MTV Africa Music Awards, a BET Awards for ‘Best African Act’ and ‘Best International Act’ (2018), two Nigerian Teen Choice Awards for ‘Top Featured Artist’ and ‘Choice Male Artist’, Davido’s global impact is simply ‘TIMELESS.’
