The Chief Executive Officer of Serene Insurance Company Limited, Mrs. Mercy Naa Koshie Boampong, has been honoured with two top awards in the insurance industry, cementing her reputation as one of Ghana’s leading insurance professionals.

Boampong was named Insurance Personality of the Year 2025 at the 8th Ghana Insurance Awards held on August 1 at the Labadi Beach Hotel and later recognized as Insurance Professional of the Year 2024 at the 5th Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) Excellence Awards on August 30 at the Kempinski Hotel.

Both awards celebrate her outstanding contributions to the industry, particularly her leadership at Serene Insurance, policy development expertise and active role in championing reforms.

She has served on several technical committees, including efforts to implement local Marine Cargo Insurance and push for the removal of VAT on non-life insurance, which resulted in motor insurance being exempted.

Founded in 2016 and officially launched in 2018, Serene Insurance is part of the First Sky Group, which also owns First Sky Construction and Volta Serene Hotel.

Since assuming leadership of Serene Insurance in September 2022, Mercy Boampong has overseen significant growth, including expanding the company’s branch network, strengthening its product portfolio, and improving claims settlement.

The company has since earned multiple recognitions, including Best Growing Insurance Company (2023 & 2024) and Emerging Brand of the Year 2024. Speaking after receiving the awards, Mrs. Mercy Boampong said the recognition reflects both her personal commitment to excellence and the collective effort of her team.

“This milestone is not only a testament to leadership but also proof of Serene Insurance’s growing influence in Ghana’s competitive insurance landscape,” she noted.

Board Chairman Charles Edem Gidi and First Sky Group Executive Chairman Eric Kutortse both praised her leadership, describing Serene Insurance as the “New Face of Insurance” and a model of innovation and customer service in the industry.
