The metaverse is a term that is more frequently being used on social media and online. However, a good number of people have no idea what it is.
In a new study conducted by CX business executive, Jonathan Shroyer, 39.5% of people are not familiar with the metaverse and have no exposure to it. 17.2% of people are familiar with it but do not like the metaverse. In fact, only 43.3% of people know what the metaverse is and actually like it.
The metaverse is part of the Web3 landscape of emerging technologies. The definition of the metaverse is an iteration of the Internet as a single, universal and immersive virtual world that is facilitated by the use of virtual reality and sometimes augmented reality headsets.
In colloquial use, a metaverse is a network of 3D virtual worlds focused on social connection.
“While the metaverse is in an experimental phase, we can expect this to grow as an industry and become more widely adopted both personally and in the professional world as well. This is a great way for people to build and establish connections with people that they otherwise would not and can be a great way for companies to connect with customers in a digitized age,” Shroyer explains.
Jonathan Shroyer has over two decades of experience building companies and leaders. CIO Journal, a publication of The Wall Street Journal, named Shroyer among its “Top CX Professionals of 2022“.
Is the Metaverse likely here to stay, despite its not yet widespread adoption?
