Dawuni and Cedella release animated video for “I Got A Song”
Ghanaian musician and four-time GRAMMY nominee Rocky Dawuni has released a new animated lyric video for his uplifting single “I Got A Song,” in collaboration with Cedella Marley, GRAMMY winner and the firstborn daughter of Reggae legends Bob Marley and Rita Marley.
The single is globally distributed by AQUARIAN Records/Tuff Gong International. Marking a milestone in Dawuni’s journey, the release is his first fully animated lyric video, brought to life by acclaimed motion designer and graphic artist Ellen Wood.
The video pairs vibrant, fluid animation with the song’s hopeful message, translating rhythm, lyrics, and spirit into a visually immersive experience.
“I Got A Song” is inspired by the Australian Aboriginal concept of “songlines” which serve as cultural passports and living repositories of knowledge, passed down through generations to preserve identity and connection to ancestral lands.
Drawing from this profound philosophy, the song becomes a love letter to humanity, spiritually bridging Africa, the Diaspora and the world.
The result is a timeless anthem of love, unity, and interconnection, resonating across cultures and continents. “Music is the heartbeat of global connection,” says Rocky Dawuni. ”This song, and having the opportunity to collaborate with Cedella, honours that spirit while invoking a call for harmony, identity, and purpose.”
Dawuni’s style and music straddle the boundaries between Africa, the Caribbean, and the U.S. to create his unique Afro Roots sound that unites generations and cultures. He has shared the stage with luminaries including Stevie Wonder, Ozomatli, Alpha Blondy, Angelique Kidjo and John Legend, among many others.
Rocky has been a UN Goodwill Ambassador for the Environment for Africa since 2018. Through these and other designations, he uses his music to shine a light on crucial issues facing humanity across the globe through live concerts, speaking, panels, youth empowerment and more.
His “I Got A Song” animated lyric video interpretation deepens this message through dynamic effects, which seamlessly merge graphic design and animation to capture the transcendental beauty of the song through compelling musical storytelling.

Cedella Marley adds, “‘I Got A Song’ reminds us of the power we each carry within our voices and cultures. It’s a bridge between past and future, between continents and communities, and we are so excited for the world to hear it.”
She is the managing director of the Bob & Rita Marley Foundations, advancing charitable causes and missions that align with the family’s values.
Cedella recently expanded her sports advocacy by becoming the Ambassador for the Basketball Association of Jamaica, where she supports the growth and development of basketball, especially among Jamaican youth, further demonstrating her commitment to sports and community upliftment.
Her work in “I Got A Song” gives it richer cultural roots, soulful collaboration, and a striking new animated form, which makes it stand as both a celebration of shared humanity and a call to remember the stories that connect us all.
