ALLIANCE FOR CHANGE IN GHANA MUSIC LAUNCHES THE MUSIC MINDS CAMPAIGN

As part of its measures to bring about positive changes in the Ghana music industry, ALLIANCE FOR CHANGE IN GHANA MUSIC (AFGHAM) is launching THE MUSIC MINDS CAMPAIGN, an initiative to educate and implement strategies to enhance the careers of both artistes and stakeholders of the industry.

In a bid to learn more about THE MUSIC MINDS CAMPAIGN, TheAfricanDream.net spoke with Ghanaian singer Eric Kwasi Okine Turkson known by the stage name Ded Buddy who explained that “In Ghana, some 98% of the talented creators are mostly focused on simply the release of their music and most at times neglect the business aspect of the sector that brings back money for their creations.

Ded Buddy who is one of the voices behind AFGHAM further said “These creators are not to be blamed as the systems are not set in place to nurture a thriving music and entertainment industry with long term financial benefits. We at AFGHAM, therefore, intend to use The MUSIC MINDS CAMPAIGN to help awaken the minds of all stakeholders in the music industry in particular and the entire entertainment sector in general.

Some of the avenues which the campaign intends to embark on its education and is through the creation and dissemination of educational videos, Podcasts, interactive seminars both on and offline. They are working on networking avenues through which bodies and individuals with a welter of knowledge and experience can also contribute to their efforts.

Meanwhile in a monitored radio interview on Y102.5FM Ghanaian singer Enoch Nana Yaw Oduro-Agyei known in the industry as Trigmatic, Trigmatic dispelled rumors that AFGHAM as a pressure group is at war with individuals at the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO). AFGHAM’S fight is against the inadequate technical know-how, lack of transparency and poor systems/structures at GHAMRO.

We are actually looking at engaging all industry players which includes GHAMRO and MUSIGHA who have the sole mandate to collect our royalties. They are one of the first players we are targeting to work with as it would only take collaborations to make this work,” Trigmatic explained on his Y102.5FM interview with NY DJ.

On his part interim AFGHAM Chairman Mark Darlington Osae shared with TheAfricanDream.net that the body seeks to assist in creating a vibrant music and entertainment industry in Ghana and believes the best possible way to achieve this is by educating the creators who matter.

Mark urged all to “expect exciting times for THE MUSIC MINDS CAMPAIGN as details of the launch will be on and all social platforms, including official Twitter @ghmusicalliance and Instagram @alliance_for_change accounts.
