Tyrese Gibson to go live at Kennedy Center Concert Hall

Grammy-nominated R&B singer and actor Tyrese Gibson is set to perform a one-night-only concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ Concert Hall on October 17, 2025, at 8:00 PM. 

The event, announced as part of the Kennedy Center’s 2025-2026 season, will showcase the multi-platinum artist’s soulful catalogue in one of the nation’s most prestigious venues, marking a significant moment for the R&B icon.

Gibson had his childhood in Watts, a neighbourhood in Los Angeles, United States. At the age of 16, he was discovered after being cast in a Coca-Cola commercial. A debut album followed, then an American Music Award for Favourite Soul/R&B New Artist. 

He has since released five more studio albums and earned six Grammy Award nominations. Known for chart-topping hits like “Sweet Lady” and “How You Gonna Act Like That,” Gibson has built a decades-long career with dynamic performances. His 1998 debut album earned him his first Grammy nomination, followed by Open Invitation in 2013 and other works.

In 2024, he released his latest album, Beautiful Pain, while his 2015 album Black Rose topped the Billboard R&B Albums Chart, driven by the hit single “Shame,” which held the number-one spot on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs Chart for 16 straight weeks. 

Beyond music, Gibson has starred in major films, including John Singleton’s Baby Boy in 2001, which marked its 20th anniversary in 2021. The debut earned him NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture.

He is known more famously for his role as Roman Pearce in the Fast & Furious franchise films, including 2021’s F9, directed by Justin Lin. He also gained recognition for portraying Robert Epps in Michael Bay’s Transformers series.

His extensive filmography includes Rogue Hostage with John Malkovich; Black and Blue alongside Naomie Harris; Ride Along 2 with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart; Black Nativity starring Forest Whitaker Angela Bassett, and Jennifer Hudson; Legion with Dennis Quaid and Paul Bettany; and Death Race featuring Jason Statham, Joan Allen, and Ian McShane.

Also, The Take with John Leguizamo and Rosie Perez; Flight of the Phoenix alongside Quaid and Giovanni Ribisi; Waist Deep with Meagan Good and Larenz Tate; Annapolis directed by Justin Lin; Morbius with Jared Leto; and Dangerous starring Mel Gibson, Famke Janssen, and Scott Eastwood.

The upcoming Concert Hall performance, in a venue known for its grand acoustics and 2,400-seat capacity, will bring his signature soul music and storytelling to a new stage.

Tickets for the October 17 event are available through the Kennedy Center’s website, with prices starting at approximately $50 and reaching up to $150, depending on seating. As a standalone concert, demand is expected to be high, and fans are encouraged to secure tickets early. 

The Kennedy Center, a hub for cultural performances ranging from classical music to theatre, adds a unique dimension to Gibson’s show. For those attending, the Kennedy Center advises arriving early to enjoy the venue’s scenic Potomac River views and grand architecture.
