Liberian Supt. Subah displays expertise at Dubai’s leadership event

Superintendent of Police, Gbariza A. Subah of the Liberian National Police proudly represented his country on the global stage, taking part in the prestigious Innovation and International Leadership (PIL) diploma, hosted by Dubai Police in partnership with the Rochester Institute of Technology in Dubai.

With over 18 years of distinguished service in traffic operations, investigations, and intelligence gathering, Supt. Subah brought Liberia’s own policing experience, dedication, and innovative spirit to a program that united elite officers from 38 countries. His contributions emphasized Liberia’s growing voice in international law enforcement collaboration.

“I was honoured to represent Liberia and exchange knowledge with colleagues from across the world,” he said. “The programme not only expanded my understanding of advanced technologies but also allowed me to share our country’s proven strategies in community policing.”

Supt. Subah used the platform to present Liberia’s successful community policing approach, forged through years of rebuilding trust after the civil war.

He shared how local officers resolved a longstanding water dispute in a rural village by working with partners to drill additional wells, transforming a point of conflict into a foundation for community stability.

His presence in Dubai highlighted that Liberia’s police force, despite infrastructure challenges, is a valuable contributor to global discussions on policing innovation.

The diploma provided intensive training on emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence applications in law enforcement and the security of cryptocurrencies. Supt. Subah now equipped to adapt these tools to Liberia’s context, plans to introduce blockchain-based lost-and-found systems that can operate with minimal internet and energy use.

“I return home with the determination to apply what I have learned in a way that strengthens security, supports our communities, and upholds our values,” he affirmed.
