A United States-based non-profit, GivingTheAfricanDream, has launched a targeted campaign aimed at improving the lives of African communities in Africa while strengthening ties with its global diaspora. The organisation is exclusively for charitable human services and educational purposes.
Originally established as Sisters Keeper International, Inc., and now operating under the DBA GivingTheAfricanDream (EIN 81-3395597), the tax-exempt organisation builds on authentic narratives to drive meaningful change.
At its core, GivingTheAfricanDream is committed “to providing access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for marginalised communities”, particularly across Africa and the African diaspora, by reaching the most vulnerable, and creating opportunities that allow individuals and families to build healthier, more hopeful, and self-sustaining futures.
The nonprofit has announced that it would achieve this by “strengthening cooperation between Africa and its global diaspora through authentic storytelling, events, arts, and advocacy by presenting Africa’s narratives candidly and positively to Africans while educating non-Africans too.”
At the heart of its vision lies “A prosperous and equitable world where all individuals can reach their full potential”, according to a statement from Oral Ofori, the non-profit’s founder. He mentioned that the organisation’s work is structured around three core pillars.
In the area of education and sports, GivingTheAfricanDream will deliver scholarships, literacy initiatives, and school infrastructure improvements to unlock academic and physical potential for young people.
For healthcare, the nonprofit will supply medical aid, health education, and disease prevention efforts to enhance well-being in underserved communities. In terms of economic empowerment, it will offer microfinance, entrepreneurship training, and job creation programs to promote independence and long-term prosperity.
The non-profit is the charity arm of TheAfricanDream LLC, a Washington D.C. Metro Area-based consulting firm specialising in Africa affairs, media, authentic storytelling, and innovative solutions. With its non-profit, GivingTheAfricanDream, the firm is extending its pan-African narrative power into direct action and philanthropy.
“We embrace the entire African continent, and include People of African Descent, including Caribbean communities and Black populations in the diaspora. We welcome individuals with racial connections or a genuine affinity for Africa’s growth and progress, regardless of skin colour or geographic location. Through our work, we strive to create a more connected, informed, and collaborative global African community,” emphasised Mr Ofori.
Supporters can contribute in multiple impactful ways, including making one-time or recurring donations to fuel ongoing programs, volunteering as part of a dedicated team of changemakers, or partnering to expand global reach and amplify results.
They can also contribute through positive media, writing, or documentary work to help reshape global perceptions of Africa. The organisation encourages everyone to join the movement using the hashtag #GivingTheAfricanDream and to follow updates on its social media platforms.
