Burkina Faso’s Amb. to U.S. presents letters of credence to Trump

The Ambassador of Burkina Faso to the United States of America, His Excellency Kassoum Coulibaly, presented his letters of credence on Thursday, July 24, 2025, to the U.S. President Donald Trump. The ceremony took place at the White House where the Burkinabè diplomat, dressed in “combat uniform,” handed over his credentials signed by Captain Ibrahim Traore, Burkina Faso’s Head of State.
In his letter sent to the State Department as part of this ceremony, Ambassador Coulibaly noted the remarkable quality of relations between our two countries, despite the terrorist context on Burkinabè territory.
The Ambassador did not fail to raise the thorny question relating to this news, which mourns the daily lives of Burkinabè families and the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
“My country has been facing a security and humanitarian crisis for a decade unprecedented, fuelled by terrorist actions by the Support Group Islam and Muslims and its satellites (GSIM/JNIM/RVIM, ramifications from Al Qaeda) and the Islamic State to the Great Sahara and its connections (EIGS/PSEI/WSEI, allied with Daesh) which threaten our existence with massacre populations and the desire to destabilize the region,” he noted.
However, the expert in logistics and peacekeeping, security and military logistics stressed that since the advent of Captain Traore, the fight against insecurity has taken a turn.

“Under the leadership of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, and thanks with the mobilization of the active forces of the Nation, significant progress has been made been recorded, particularly in the reconquest of territory and return progressive of thousands of internally displaced people in their localities original. Burkina Faso is working to build a safer, more sovereign and more resilient, relying on its own resources but also on strategic partnerships based on equality and mutual trust,” said Ambassador Coulibaly.
“In response, President Donald Trump suggested that our two states share an interest in improving the prosperity of our nations. We have opportunities for collaboration in areas such as trade, energy, mining and telecommunications,” he concluded.
It was on this note that the ceremony of presenting the credentials ended, officially marking the entry into office of His Excellency Coulibaly as Ambassador accredited to the American government.
