Africa Day 2026 to spotlight water, tech, peace agenda at Kofi Annan Centre
The Pan Africa Union Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission, in collaboration with the International Association of World Peace Advocates, will convene leading voices across diplomacy, technology, and academia for the African Day Celebration & Leadership Summit 2026 on May 25, 2026, at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre located at Teshie in Accra, Ghana’s capital city.
The high-level summit, timed to coincide with Africa Day, will run under the theme: “Assuring Sustainable Water, Technology, Peace & Security for Agenda 2063.” Organizers say the event aims to move beyond dialogue and into actionable frameworks that align with the African Union’s 50-year development blueprint.
The summit which kicks-off at 10:00 AM will feature a distinguished panel of speakers, including H.E. Amb. Dr. Samuel Ben Owusu, Eminent Peace Ambassador and Country Director for IAAPA Ghana/West African Head of Missions & Special Envoy-Ghana.
Speaking ahead of the event, H.E. Amb. Dr. Samuel Ben Owusu underscored the urgency of the summit’s theme: “Peace without sustainable water and technology is temporary. If we want Agenda 2063 to be more than a document, we must secure the basic elements that allow communities to thrive. This summit is where diplomacy meets implementation, which is why are bringing the people who can fund, build, and protect Africa’s future into one room at the Kofi Annan Centre.”
He is joined on the program by H.E. Amb. Dr. Stephen Gbatigbi Ben-Joel, Global President of the Pan African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission; H.E. Amb. Dr. Emmanuel Nweke, World Peace Spokesperson; H.E. Amb. Dr. Victor Anang, Special Emissary for Political Affairs in Africa; Prof. Wazi Apoh of Archaeology and Heritage Studies; Chief Technology Officer Kojo Appiah; ESG executive Cynthia Owusu; and University of Education, Winneba lecturer Dr. Dorcas Attuabea Addo.

The choice of venue, the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, is deliberate, organizers note. It ties the summit’s focus on peace and security directly to one of Africa’s most respected institutions for conflict resolution and leadership training.
The 2026 edition marks an expanded focus on technology’s role in resource management. With climate pressures intensifying across the continent, panel discussions will examine how digital innovation can safeguard water access, improve early-warning systems for conflict, and strengthen governance.
The event is open to diplomats, policymakers, private sector leaders, and civil society actors working in the Agenda 2063 ecosystem. See details below:
