Many people doubted Asamoah Gyan; the Ghana international soccer star’s decision to sign with China Super League team, Shanghai SIPG in July 2015.

A Career in the English premier league, the Italian Serie A or German Bundesliga is what is expected of all top level football talent and people were expecting to see Gyan play in one of these leagues.

However, Gyan decided to forfeit the possibility of European gold and instead go after cash and glory in the east where the game has slowly established a reputation for itself.

Gyan is making a whopping $227,000 per week now playing at Shanghai SIPG, Gyan. In his debut game he showed the Chinese team that they made a good investment as he scored a goal off a brilliant cross.

Shanghai SIPG F.C. is a professional football club that currently participates in the Chinese Super League under licence from the Chinese Football Association (CFA). The team is based in Xuhui, Shanghai and their home stadium is the Shanghai Stadium.
